A cross sectional knowledge, attitude and practice study for copper IUCD in a tertiary care centre in New Delhi

Background: The postpartum period is one of the most sensitive in a woman’s life. To prevent unwanted pregnancies and promote optimal interpregnancy interval, effective contraception should be discussed offered at that time. aim this study was to assess knowledge, attitude practice intrauterine device antenatal patients attending OPD. Methods: A cross sectional, hospital based descriptive conducted from month September November 2021 department Obstetrics Gynaecology Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. total number recruited were 750. 600 delivered 150 lost follow up. OPD provided with structured questionnaire knowledge copper IUCD usage. Results: Most belonged age group 20-25 years. majority Illiterate multigravidas (65%). Around 71% aware Copper as method contraception. Whereas only 31% convinced safety IUCD. About 62% apprehensive use Of our hospital, PPIUCD inserted 216 (36%) patients. Conclusions: reveals good favorable for But it also depicts low acceptance usage same. various reasons are mainly illiteracy, ignorance, social religious taboos etc. Hence suggested community education, addressing unwarranted fears patients, incorporation family planning maternal child health services done improve thereby
